🏀 Sports Kickback Week 10 Michigan High School Team Rankings

February 12, 2026

Week 10 brought major shakeups across the state. We saw statement wins, tough losses, and teams proving why they belong in the championship conversation. Injuries, transfers, and strength of schedule are starting to separate contenders from pretenders.

Let’s break it all down.

1️⃣ East Lansing (Previous: #1)

East Lansing takes a tough loss this week, falling to Northville while missing star guard Kingston Thomas. His absence was noticeable, especially late in the game when shot creation became an issue.

Even with the loss, the Trojans remain one of the most complete teams in Michigan. When fully healthy, they have the depth, guard play, and defensive pressure to beat anyone. The key will be staying healthy heading into the postseason.

Outlook: Still a state title favorite, but the margin for error is shrinking.

2️⃣ Kalamazoo Central (Previous: #4)

Kalamazoo Central continues to rise after a strong 12-point win over Warren Fitzgerald. Their balance on both ends of the floor continues to impress.

The Maroon Giants are playing disciplined basketball, limiting turnovers and getting consistent production from their senior leadership. They’re peaking at the right time and building serious momentum.

Outlook: Trending upward and looking like a legitimate Final Four contender.

3️⃣ Avondale (Previous: #5)

Avondale continues to stack wins and remains one of the most consistent teams in the state. They defend at a high level and execute well in half-court situations.

Their ability to control tempo makes them dangerous in tournament-style games.

Outlook: Quietly one of the toughest outs in Michigan.

4️⃣ Summit Academy (Previous: #8)

Summit Academy delivered a strong win over ATAP Pontiac this week. Their athleticism and guard play continue to overwhelm opponents.

When Summit is clicking offensively, they are extremely difficult to contain in transition. They’ve made one of the biggest jumps in the rankings over the past few weeks.

Outlook: Dangerous dark horse with upset potential.

5️⃣ Brother Rice (Previous: #2)

Brother Rice drops after taking a tough loss to Detroit Catholic Central in the Catholic League Tournament. Despite the setback, this remains a battle-tested squad.

They’ve faced elite competition all season and will benefit from that experience in March. Sometimes a February loss sharpens a championship team.

Outlook: Still elite, but consistency will be key.

6️⃣ Detroit MLK (Previous: #7)

Detroit King continues to battle through adversity. After losing 4-star center Tyler Hunter to transfer, many expected them to slide.

Instead? They’ve kept winning.

King arguably has one of the toughest schedules in the state, and that level of competition is preparing them for a deep run. Their resilience and toughness define this team.

Outlook: One of the most battle-tested teams in Michigan.

7️⃣ Rockford (Previous: #3)

Rockford drops after a loss to Hudsonville. It was a physical matchup, and Hudsonville controlled key stretches of the game.

Rockford still has strong guard play and experience, but they’ll need to tighten up defensively and close games stronger down the stretch.

Outlook: Still dangerous, but showing vulnerability.

8️⃣ East Kentwood (Previous: #6)

East Kentwood remains steady in the rankings. They continue to compete at a high level and bring athleticism across all five positions.

They’ll need signature wins down the stretch to move up further.

Outlook: Solid, but looking for a breakthrough moment.

9️⃣ Northview (Previous: #11)

Northview earns one of the biggest wins of Week 10, knocking off East Lansing while the Trojans were short-handed.

Regardless of circumstances, that’s a statement win. Northview showed composure and execution in crunch time.

Outlook: A team nobody wants to see in their district.

🔟 Muskegon (Previous: #9)

Muskegon continues to grind through a competitive schedule. Their physical style and rebounding give them a chance every night.

They remain firmly in the Top 10 conversation.

Outlook: Built for tournament basketball.

1️⃣1️⃣ Rochester (Previous: #10)

Rochester has drops even though they are undefeated. It's rare to be unbeaten this late in the season, but they are giving a champions fight!

They’re still disciplined and well-coached but need a statement win to climb back into the upper tier.

Outlook: Solid playoff team with upside.

#12 🟡 On The Border: Detroit Catholic Central (Previous: Not Ranked)

Detroit Catholic Central makes serious noise with a huge Catholic League Tournament win over Brother Rice.

That win alone demands attention.

The Shamrocks are playing their best basketball at the right time. If they string together a few more quality wins, expect them to break firmly into the Top 10.

Outlook: Surging at the perfect time.
