Sports Kickback Bronco Mentorship Program

Kalamazoo, MI — Sports Kickback is proud to announce the launch of the Sports Kickback Bronco Mentorship Program, a groundbreaking new initiative created through an official partnership with Western Michigan University (WMU). Designed for youth 8th grade and under, this program will give young athletes a first-hand look at what it truly means to be a Division I student-athlete, both on and off the field.

Set to begin in Spring 2026, the Sports Kickback Bronco Mentorship Program blends athletics, academics, and mentorship to help shape the next generation of leaders.

A Unique Division I Experience

Through this collaboration with Western Michigan University, participants will be immersed in the culture, discipline, and expectations of Division I athletics. Youth will have the opportunity to:

  • Attend and meet up at WMU and Sports Kickback games

  • Participate in structured academic workshops focused on study habits, time management, and goal setting

  • Take part in training sessions that emphasize fundamentals, conditioning, and skill development

  • Study game film to learn basketball and football IQ, decision-making, and team concepts

  • Engage in mentorship conversations centered on character, accountability, and leadership

This hands-on exposure is designed to inspire youth while helping them understand that success as an athlete starts in the classroom and continues with discipline, preparation, and community support.

Building More Than Athletes

The Sports Kickback Bronco Mentorship Program goes beyond sports. At its core, the program is about mentorship, education, and opportunity. By connecting young athletes with the Division I environment early, Sports Kickback and WMU aim to broaden horizons and show participants what is possible through hard work and dedication.

Youth will learn:

  • How academics and athletics work together at the collegiate level

  • The importance of film study, practice habits, and preparation

  • How to carry themselves with confidence, respect, and purpose

Looking Ahead to Spring 2026

Programming officially begins Spring 2026, with scheduled events like 4th Annual Sports Kickback League, workshops, and experiences rolled out throughout the season. Sports Kickback is excited to work alongside Western Michigan University to provide a safe, structured, and inspiring environment for youth in the Kalamazoo community and beyond.

The Sports Kickback Bronco Mentorship Program represents another step forward in Sports Kickback’s mission to use sports as a vehicle for education, mentorship, and positive life outcomes.

More details on registration, schedules, and program updates will be announced soon. Stay connected with Sports Kickback as we prepare to launch this exciting new chapter.
