Roster Highlights — Players to Watch
Loy Norrix enters the season with a solid balance of senior leadership and youthful playmakers. According to the most recent roster update, here are some of the names fans should keep their eyes on:
(Key Player) Jakari Lipsey – OL / DL (6'5", 285) – A 3-star Class of 2027 recruit with 12+ Division I offers from programs such as Auburn, Boston College, Cincinnati, and Michigan State. Lipsey anchors both lines for Norrix, dominating in the trenches with size, strength, and agility. He’s also a standout on the Knights’ basketball team, showcasing his athletic versatility.
Senior Leaders
Jaylind Motton – WR / FS (5'10", 169) A reliable player on both ends of the ball. Makes big plays when called on.
Jonavan Hare – QB (5'9" 150) A senior quarterback looking to lead the Knights to multiple victories. Not the typical size QB, but leadership comes in all sizes.
MacArius Coppage – WR (6'1", 170) A returning starter from the 2024 season. Plan on seeing Coppage on offense and defense. He could make a big impact being a tall WR.
Nayshawn Arnold- (OL 6'0" 260)- Nayshawn is going to be a senior leader on the offensive line for Norrix.
David Jones- RB/WR- (6'1" 195) Jones could be the game changer for the Knights. With his versatility at WR and RB, he is bound to make a big play. College recruiters noticing that too! Going into his senior season, Jones already has a offer from Wayne St. University (Division II). With expected solid play in the upcoming 2025 season. He should gain more offers from GLIAC and Mid-Major division 1 universities.
Juniors on the Rise
Gio Williams (S/WR 6'3 190) Will start at safety for the Knights.
Owen Ross – OLB / DE (6'1", 180) Plan on Ross to give offenses trouble at LB and DE.
Boston Droeter- RB/LB 5'10" 210- Played a bunch of RB during the 2024 season, but with addition RB's on the varsity roster in 2025, Boston will focus on playing Linebacker.
Jackson Deluca- QB/WR 5'10" 170- Deluca will get a bunch of reps at WR. There is a possibility that Jackson will also line up at quarterback.
Meech Bennett – 6'0 170 CB / WR – Speed and athleticism make him a threat to opposing quarterbacks and secondaries. Meech is also a standout on the Norrix basketball team.
Javontay Smith – 6'3 185 ATH – A versatile weapon who can line up all over the field. Smith has a bunch of experience playing football, but this is his first year suiting up for the Knights. He is also a solid basketball for Loy Norrix.
Sherrod White –5'11 165 WR– Brings playmaking ability as a pass catcher. White got a oppurtunity to get some varsity snaps last season as a sophomore.
Sophomore Standouts
Dehlan Pitts – DT/DE (6'2", 250) Last season Pitts got varsity reps as a freshman. He had a promising offseason competing at camps and showcases in the Michigan area.
Cam Fuller –6'1 215 RB/LB – A breakout candidate who can impact the game on both sides of the ball. With his speed and size, he reminds you of Eddie George from the Tennessee Titans 90's-00's team.
Terrell Robinson- 5'11 160 WR/DB- Is a speedy weapon that opposing defenses need to watch. Look forward to the growth of Robinson throughout his sophomore season.
Preview Dynamics
Leadership & Versatility: Veterans like Hare, Motton, and Coppage provide the stability, while multipurpose athletes like Phillips and Williams give the coaching staff options.
Star Power in Lipsey and Jones: Lipsey is one of the most recruited linemen in Michigan, and his presence alone makes Norrix more dangerous up front. He’ll be key in both protecting Hare and setting the tone on defense. Jones is also on a bunch of college recruiter trails. With his ability to get a TD at any given moment, he helps Norrix become a threat against any team.
Underclassman Impact: With C. Fuller, D. Pitts, D. Bennet, J. Smith, and S. White emerging, this young core could carry the program into its next era.
Big Rivalries Ahead: Every game in the SMAC East matters, but the October 24th clash with Kalamazoo Central is circled in bold on every Knights fan’s calendar.
Season Outlook
The Knights’ 2024 campaign proved that the program is no longer a rebuilding story but a contender. With a rebuilt home field serving as their stage, the national attention on Lipsey and a roster stacked with senior & junior, and rising sophomores, the 2025 season has the potential to push Loy Norrix into the playoff conversation.
This fall, expect physical play, breakout performances, and one of the most exciting seasons in recent Knights history.
